F\u00fcnf Ver\u00f6ffentlichungen mit 943 CPAP-Nutzern (> 4 Std.\/Nacht) und 1143 Kontrollpersonen zeigten \u00fcber einen Zeitraum von mindestens 12 Monaten eine Reduktion des Risikos von Schlaganf\u00e4llen um 45%, aber keine signifikante Reduktion des Herzinfarktrisikos. Erkl\u00e4rt wird dies mit unterschiedlichen Durchblutungsbedingungen. Bei Apnoen und Hypopnoen kommt es vor allem in der Systole zu einem Blutdruckanstieg. In dieser Phase wird aber das Herz aber nicht durchblutet, da sich ja dann die Herzmuskulatur zusammenzieht.
